Mrs. Cunningham’s class had an unforgettable trip to the South Carolina State Museum! From exploring dinosaur fossils 🦖 to checking out incredible art and historic vehicles 🚗, our students were learning at every turn.
They also dove into a fun lesson on light and shadows 💡 and topped it all off with an exciting 4D sea lion movie experience 🦭🎬—talk about hands-on learning!
What a day full of discovery, curiosity, and fun! 💙

At Horse Creek Academy Kershaw, we’re a tuition-free public charter school open to all South Carolina students. When applications exceed available seats, we use a fair, randomized lottery system to give every child an equal opportunity for enrollment—fully aligned with state guidelines.

Our 5th grade students dove into their “Matter of Fact” lesson, exploring states of matter in the coolest way possible—using liquid nitrogen to see how solids, liquids, and gases react to extreme temperature changes! From shrinking balloons to jaw-dropping chemical reactions, they experienced science in action while learning the difference between physical and chemical changes. ❄️🔥
Meanwhile, our 3rd graders put science into motion with “Use the Force,” an energetic lesson all about gravity, air pressure, inertia, and friction. The excitement built all the way up to launching a rocket across the stage! 🚀

The board will take a close look at all submissions and announce three finalist names at the April 21 board meeting. 🗓️
